The Plainfield Skating Club had a wonderful time at the annual awards banquet held at the Venus de Milo. Foremost was the induction of the two head coaches (Lynn Cassio and Tom Beebe) into the Northeast Regions Hall of Fame. Both gave emotional speeches that thanked skaters and coaches past and present. The club also came home a record number of awards. Tiarra Shafer won the award for the Northeast Regions outstanding figure skater. Her dad, Ernie Shafer, won the Caruso Memorial award. Katelyn Adams won the award for the outstanding "Up and Coming" skater which is given to the skater in the B/C divisions who show the most promise which was presented to her by last year's recipient, Matthew Shafer. Brianna Seidel awarded the Uncle Charlie Santoro award for the A level skater in the Freshman age or younger with the most promise to John Scott who is Cassandra Seidel's Dance Partner. Jacob Nelson and Cassandra Seidel won the Northeast Regions outstanding singles skaters for their Elementary A Pairs which was awarded by Tiarra Shafer who won the award last year. John Scott and Cassandra Seidel won the Northeast Regions outstanding Dance Team. In addition, all who placed at the 2008 National Championships were recognized.
